From pole to P6 to victory — the teenager who leads the world
Suzuka waited, brave and bold Lights go out, I drop the clutch A bit too deep, I lose my touch From first to sixth in just one turn I watch the rubber start to burn I messed it up, I fell behind But I have fire in my mind They asked me what I felt inside When all my rivals passed me by I cannot say the words I had But I was very, very mad I was very mad Now watch me fly I'm the fastest Watch me touch the sky Pace is incredible Catch me if you try Stuck behind the red machine Looking for a space between Then the safety car comes out Lucky brake without a doubt Pit lane calls, I take the lead Exactly what I really need Experience does a lot for me Last year taught me how to see I will practice my clutch drops tonight But now I am standing in the line Arigato Japan I was very mad Now watch me fly I'm the fastest Watch me touch the sky Pace is incredible Catch me if you try 19th and leading Watch me fly Just keep racing the bar Arigato Thank you for watching!
Antonelli's Suzuka was a masterclass in resilience. From pole to P6 after another Mercedes launch failure, he kept his composure through the first stint while the quickest car in race trim slowly closed gaps. The Bearman Safety Car was the gift — a perfectly timed free stop that leapfrogged him past Russell and into a 13.7-second victory. 'Thanks, Toto. Still quite a bit of work to do on the starts.' The youngest championship leader in F1 history, businesslike as ever.
